The Nikon N4004 was introduced in 1987 and was one of Nikon’s early consumer autofocus 35mm SLR cameras. The same basic model was sold internationally as the Nikon F-401, while the N4004 designation was used in the United States.
 
The N4004 uses Nikon’s long-running F-mount lens system and represents an interesting transitional period between traditional manual-focus Nikon SLRs and the company’s later autofocus film cameras.
